The music band “Dios Salve A La Reina” (dsr.com.ar) (God Save The Queen) came into being in Rosario, Argentina in 1998.
In 2003 the band “Dios Salve A La Reina” triumphed the Cavern Rock Fest in Buenos Aires and so, was titled as the best Latin American Rock Band. As a result, the rockers were asked out on tour to England for playing several concerts in the most prestigious English pub The Cavern Club in Liverpool (www.cavernclub.org) (en.wikipedia.org), which is considered to be as the birthplace of “The Beatles”. The “Dios Salve A La Reina” got over the footlights with thundering applause and so has become the permanent honor rolls of “The Mathew Street Festival” (www.mathewstreetfestival.org) since that time. Even more, the band was confided to play the final night of this world greatest music fest to 30 000 audience.
The physical resemblance of the bandsmen from the “Dios Salve A La Reina” to the original “Queen”, especially the Pablo Padin (main vocal & keyboards) to Freddie Mercury, makes this music band uncanny. Pablo earned a personal appraisal from the fest provider Ray Johnson as “the likeliest copy of Freddie Mercury”. – “He’s just a showman by instinct”, said Ray. In 2004 the “Dios Salve A La Reina” was also awarded the title of “The Best Queen Tribute Band” in Latin America at the Brazilian Festival “Queens Day Brazil” in Sao Paolo.
The band always plays all its sounds naturally, without any Milly Vanilly pulling, overdubbing of single vocals, chorus, instruments or samples. Every song is sung vividly by the band musicians themselves.
In 2005, after their second participation in “The Mathew Street Festival” in Liverpool, the “Dios Salve A La Reina” met the “Queen” Tour Manager, who was genuinely shocked with what he had seen and said, “It’s unbelievable! They’re just like the very ones!” In July of that year the band played a concert in the most prestigious hall of Argentina – “The Grand REX Theater” (http://www.musewiki.org/) in Buenos Aires. The hall was overcrowded at the first-night. So, the band played that concert once more in a week as requested by the fans. Later on, the band was invited to Switzerland, to participate in the Freddie Mercury Memorial Day in Montreux. The festival’s providers Norbert Muller & Rita Bullestry were so pleased by the performance of these musicians – “We couldn’t even imagine that they’d have played SO GREAT!” – that they suggested participating in the next year’s memorial concert without a peep. The band “Dios Salve A La Reina” also toured all around the Latin America, Spain and Scotland.
“The Queen” International Fan Club honored the “Dios Salve A La Reina” as the best music band of the style in the beginning of 2006 and also engaged it to participate in the famous annual Gallican Fest. Also, the band made a tour over the Southern America visiting Uruguay, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela and other countries. The “Dios Salve A La Reina” as well played funfair concert in the biggest covered arena of Argentina with a beautiful reconstruction of the original “Queen” show played 25 years ago to more than 6 000 fans. The musicians were engaged by the Spanish Broadcast SER to participate in the Pillar Holiday in Saragossa (en.wikipedia.org) with the 250 000audience.
The whole year of 2007 the band is touring all around the world promoting its new show program. For example, 20 performances were made all over Spain in such big cities as Barcelona, Santiago de Compostela, Valladolid, Bilbao, Madrid and some others to more than 300 thousand of people in general. They were also taking part in numerous TV Shows, and shot plenty meters of various chronicles in Argentina, England and Spain.
The Queen Tribute Band “Dios Salve A La Reina” also participated in the Montreux Jazz Festival, which is no doubt the most significant European music fest, in 2007. (It received such popular performers as the “Deep Purple”, David Bowie and even the “Queen” itself!) This Argentina cover band was the first tribute band (or, the music band, which never performs its own original songs, though imitates other famous musicians) accepted at this music fest for its long history. This one and only case served as a fact of appraisal for the band’s special contribution. The British Council also honored the uniqueness of the “Dios Salve A La Reina” and asked it out for the Liverpool festival ceremonies dedicated to the title of the European Cultural Capital of 2008.
In 2010 the band is going to make its third Spanish Tour and perform in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Peru and Mexico afterwards. Also, the “Dios Salve A La Reina” is going to make its first Asian Tour while visiting India and China with performances & promotion of its recently recorded third DVD.
